HR a ‘term that should strike fear into the heart of every self-respecting entrepreneur’

Writing in the Financial Times last month, Luke Johnson, Chairman of Channel Four and head of private equity firm Risk Capital Partners has described HR as a ‘necessary evil’ and compared the power of HR with that of the CIA and the Israeli intelligence service Mossad.

‘HR is… a simple expense, and a burden on the backs of productive workers’ he wrote. In an unrelated survey, research firm Roffey Park revealed that half of 479 managers in large organisations polled thought that their HR Business Partners were failing their organisations.
