Criminal penalties for employers of illegal immigrants
As reported last month, those employers found to have knowingly employed illegal workers face an unlimited fine and a prison sentence from 29 February.
Those employers who have simply failed to make the necessary checks on their workforce at least annually may now be fined up to £10,000 for each offence.
