At the time of writing, the temperature in the UK is a miserable 15 degrees and predictions of a hot summer have yet to really materialise. The TUC, for one, seem comfortable with the performance of the weather and have called for a new upper limit on workplace temperature for Health and Safety purposes.
According to their own research, the TUC claim that 94% of employees report that their workplace was too hot even in last summer’s miserable weather. In a press release from Brendan Barber, General Secretary, the TUC claim that staff should be allowed to leave work if the temperature inside the workplace exceeds 30 degrees or 27 degrees if their job is physically demanding.
