Hertfordshire Constabulary have told Human Resources magazine that their pagan staff are free to swap traditional bank holidays for their own festivals such as Halloween and the summer solstice.
Quoting figures from the Office of National Statistics which show 31,000 pagans in the UK, the announcement comes after discussions between the Home Office and (I kid you not) the Pagan Police Association. A spokesman for the PPA said ‘Paganism is not the new age, tree-hugging fad that some people think it is’.
